Nasimi district was founded in 13.06.1969. Territory is 10 km2, population is 202400 persons. The district was surrounded from north-east by Narimanov district, from south by Sabail district, from west by Yasamal district, from north by Binagadi district. 48.9% of population is men, 51.1% is women, 88.1% is Azerbaijani, and 11.9% is from other nations. 10409 forced immigrants and 14476 refugees settled in Nasimi district. One municipality operates in the district.
